Musings of a Co-Founder

As I was out for my morning walk, I reflected on the past year and our fantastic accomplishments. Only 16 months ago, six of us came together to create ExiPay. We shared a common dream of using the knowledge and skills we had built over the years to create an open platform for commerce. During those 16 months, we established a business, built the platform, and took it live in the market.

Morning in the African bush.

I started on the journey to help create this dream when I was past the age when normal people retire. We are now several companies within the group, we are established in the market, and our team is spread worldwide, including South Africa, the Netherlands, the UK, Pakistan, and Serbia, among others.

And we do not have a single office anywhere. For each of us, this means something different, something positive, and something that would have been impossible a few years ago. It means I can work from my bush house in Hoedspruite, next door to Kruger National Park and enjoy these 5:30 AM morning walks. I can stay an extra few minutes in the shower, as I did this morning, to not scare the six warthogs drinking from the birdbath outside the bathroom window. I can record a bird call or two while having coffee and rusks for breakfast. Then, I can make the 4.5-second trip to my office where I work and spend an entire day, punctuated by visits from giraffes, nyala, an abundance of birds, and many other animals.

It is never too late to start the dream.
